5 years

Before you came to DJP, what did you do? Any relevant industry experiences?

After graduation, my family bought a supper club on a lake nearby. We had it for about 5 years and then my parents retired. I then went to work as a bartender for a few different establishments in the area. I did that for several years then  went to work at a call center and eventually became the site manager. I have tons of experience in customer service but never worked within an industry such as that of DJ Products.  Our WasteCaddy manager is exceptionally knowledgeable on our products and is amazing at teaching us the ins-and-outs of the product and ensures we continue to have the confidence in being able to help every customer with their waste moving needs.

Will the Trend to Concierge Trash Services Make a Difference for Your Property?

There has to be an easier way to handle trash. And there is, with our Waste Caddy!
There has to be an easier way to handle trash. And there is, with our Waste Caddy!

As a growing number of states enact mandatory recycling, the already challenging matter of waste management has become even more intricate. Many property managers are turning to concierge trash services as a practical and cost-effective solution.

Solving the Messy Problem of Trash Collection

In multi-family housing units, effective waste management is dependent on cooperation from residents, who often use leaky garbage bags or fail to place trash inside the proper receptacles. Recycling complicates the issue with its requirements that items be sorted within separate containers.

Private concierge trash collection companies offer a simplified process that takes most of the burden off the shoulders of the property manager. When a company contracts with a housing unit, they provide door-to-door trash and recycling from each individual unit five to seven times a week.

All residents have a bin located right outside their front door, usually with one section for trash and one for recycling, which is single-stream with no sorting required. The company will haul the recyclables to a collection facility if necessary, and some even include cleaning of the dumpster and trash collection areas in their services.

Adding Value to Multi-Unit Rental Properties

Not only does concierge trash collection make a cumbersome maintenance task much easier, they raise a property’s desirability in the rental market. Prospective tenants appreciate a service that allows them to maintain a green lifestyle with less effort.

Tips for Maintaining Your Dumpster Enclosure

Tenants judge their landlord and property management staff based largely on how well the crew takes care of the little day-to-day things like trash removal. When dumpster enclosures are messy or hazardous, a negative tenant attitude builds steam.

As one janitorial service puts it, it’s critical to maintain a clean and efficient dumpster enclosure for the sake of your reputation as well as the health and safety of your staff.

• Regular staff does a better, more efficient job compared to a high turnover situation.

• Tenants do a better job of cleaning up after themselves when the grounds are kept tidy.

• Loose trash can lead to city fines, negative online reviews, and tenant complaints.

Efficient Ways to Keep Dumpsters Clean

Good trash solutions start with good equipment. Consider what your staff must do to wheel dumpsters around the property for collection. Are you asking valued employees to risk back injuries and muscle pulls by pushing tons of garbage?

One of our clients says her waste caddy has essentially given her an extra employee. “I used to have two guys tied up four hours a day,” she said. Now that the job can be done by one employee, “the other guy is available to do more important things, like respond to resident requests 8 or more hours every week.”

Ultimately, motorized equipment that moves dumpsters, like our lineup of Waste Caddies, enables your staff to work safely and efficiently while also improving tenant morale and retention.

Do yourself a favor and reduce the risk of heavy equipment injuries while taking better care of your waste management with waste caddies from DJ Products.

Taking the Pain Out of Trash Removal with a Power Mover

No one likes to take out the trash. At home, it’s the bottom feeder on the chore list. At work, it’s the back breaker no one wants to tackle. But taking out the trash is one of life’s necessary evils. However, the backache and muscle pains that make workers grumble when given trash duty can be avoided. An ergonomically-designed power mover and dumpster movers eliminate the potential risk of musculoskeletal injury from trash removal operations.A nationally recognized leader in the manufacture of ergonomic material handling equipment, DJ Products makes two products specifically designed to eliminate the pain and strain of pushing heavy trash and recycling containers and dumpsters. Compact and easy to maneuver, this power mover can be used to move trash receptacles through buildings, across plant floors, through parking areas or to street level for curbside pick up.

  •  WasteCaddy Dumpster Mover makes it easy to reposition heavy dumpsters and recycling containers from inside plant areas to outdoor removal sites, move dumpsters from underground parking lots to trash compactor and bailing sites, or transport dumpsters to street level for curbside pick up. The versatile dumpster mover makes it possible for a single employee to move heavy receptacles that require the manual muscle of three employees. DJ Products’ power mover can maneuver dumpsters from 500 to 10,000 pounds.
  • WasteCaddyLite waste container puller is designed to pull heavy waste containers down hallways or narrow aisles to consolidation points. Extremely maneuverable in tight spaces, DJ Products’ power mover can move containers up to 10,000 pounds. Use to move waste containers at apartment or condominium sites or through hospitals to refuse removal points.

Utilizing DJ Products’ ergonomically-designed power mover may not increase volunteers for trash duty, but they’ll certainly eliminate complaints about sore backs and achy muscles. Now, if we could only do something about the smell. Ask about our free demo trial program.
