No one likes feeling abandoned at restaurants. From drink refills to requesting the check, a new app-powered tool for the restaurant industry looks to be making the experience far easier for both customers and servers.
Serial entrepreneur and inventor Einar Rosenberg saw the need for an easy, effective solution for diners to get their server’s attention. His startup Creating Revolutions offers the answer with a tabletop device that any customer can figure out, and an alert system that servers and managers can easily use to provide better service with greater efficiency.
Here’s how the device works:
- Patrons text their waiter from a tabletop device
- Servers receive the text and respond ASAP
- Managers track how long servers take to respond to requests, potentially using the data to better allocate staff
- Restaurants can also use the device for marketing messages
- Servers can use a special watch or virtually any smartphone
Better Tools, Better Service
Texting will not be replacing waitstaff — the idea here is to help employees provide better service and attend to restaurant patrons in a timely fashion.
So far, a few Miami restaurants have begun using the device. The results have been more upselling of alcohol and desserts, higher gratuities, and high satisfaction among both employees and customers.
Tools for restaurant efficiency make life easier for everybody. Our hospitality industry carts can be used by any employee to move dishes, linens, equipment, and waste bins. These motorized hospitality industry carts make it simple to get work done and provide better service, with less intensive physical labor.
